At what age is a pup ready to attend obedience classes?

In my opinion, no pup should be away from its mother before 10 weeks of age. However, those of us who adopt and rescue dogs don’t always have the luxury of dictating when a pup comes into our lives. So as long as your pup is at least 8 weeks old, and you can show that they are current on their vaccinations, you are welcome to enroll in a class.

What do I need to bring to class?

On the first night of class, you’ll need your pup, whatever leash and collar you have, treats (and something to put them in) along with payment.

Can more than one person from the family attend class with a dog?

You are welcome to bring the entire family to class. However, the time in class is often more than a younger child’s attention span can handle - especially since we’re not there to play with the dogs.

Will we have class in the rain?

We will not. If it’s raining at the class site at 7 pm, or if it begins to rain during class, we will put off class for a week.

How will I know if class has been cancelled due to weather?

South Louisiana weather being what it is, it could be raining at my house but there be beautiful weather just a few streets over. Every effort will be made to hold class. We will only know to cancel a class if there is inclement weather at the class site at 7 pm.

What happens if I have to miss a class?

If you know ahead of time about a class that you’ll need to miss, or if an unexpected change in your schedule keeps you from attending class, contact us about scheduling a make-up session as soon as possible. As successive class objectives and techniques are built upon the previous week’s practice, we’ll want to hold that make-up session as close to the actual class date as possible, and certainly before the following class.
